  8. One of the frustrating things I find myself doing when working my computer    
  9. is trying to stop Windows from loading when it is called from my autoexec.bat
  10. file.  If you need to get to DOS, trying to find the exact timing to stop 
  11. Windows from loading is next to impossible.  You either do not stop it at all
  12. or you break out of your autoexec.bat to early, and miss items needed to set 
  13. your machine up properly (how  many times have you had a C> prompt?)
  14.  
  15. WinStop ends this problem. It pops up a 20 second timer that allows you to 
  16. cancel the loading of Windows.  If you do not stop the timer, it will load
  17. Windows as it always has.  This allows you to turn on your machine in the 
  18. morning, get your cup of coffee, and still have Windows loaded the way 
  19. you wanted it to.

  30. This is a full working copy of WinStop.  It is not crippled in anyway.

  33. Installation

  36. Copy the contents of the WinStop disk (or the zip file) to a directory.

  45. Replace the line that loads Windows (usually WIN) 
  46. in your autoexec.bat file with:

  48.         CALL C:\WINSTOP\WINSTOP.BAT

  51. That's all there is to it!
  52.         
  53. USE: 
  54. ─────
  55. WinStop will display a menu each time you boot.  It will begin counting down
  56. the number of seconds specified in the TTWINSP.CFG file.  The default is 25 
  57. seconds, but you can modify it.  After the counter hits 0, the program will 
  58. exit and load Windows.  If you want to load Windows imeadiately, press the 
  59. space bar.  If you do not want to go into windows, press any key (other than 
  60. <SPACE BAR>) to return to the main screen with the menu.  You may then choose 
  61. to load Windows or to return to DOS (Pressing <ENTER> twice from the count 
  62. down window will load DOS).

  64. To edit the seconds that WinStop waits, use an ASCII editor (such as EDIT in
  65. DOS 5.x and 6.x) to edit TTWINSP.CFG. The second line contains a number - 
  66. which is the number of seconds WINSTOP will wait before loading Windows.
